Ongoing Support for Students

Starting the week of February 15, 2021, we are offering students the opportunity to earn credit for a core course they failed during first semester. With the help of guidance counselors and teachers, our goal is to help students stay on track for graduation and have access to support outside of the regular school day.

Students in the program will be assigned an Academic Coach who will support them throughout the process. Academic Coaches  will be responsible for the following:
  • Communicating with their assigned students
  • Helping students get organized and make a plan to complete coursework
  • Keeping track of the students’ progress in order to earn credit for failed 1st semester core courses
  • Communicating with families and counselors

Academic Coaches will utilize Google Classroom and resources created by our teachers to help earn the necessary credits.  We look forward to partnering with you and working together to motivate and encourage your student to complete his or her work and earn credit.

Need a quiet place to complete your work and have access to support?

We are also excited to offer all students in this program the opportunity and option to complete their work at school on Tuesday and/or Thursday afternoons from 12:30-2:30pm. Students who attend will have a safe, socially distanced, and supervised space to complete their work, and Academic Coaches will check in with them as needed. Transportation from school will be provided - as needed  - at 2:30pm.
  • All students are invited to attend one or both afternoon sessions (Tuesday and/or Thursday)
  • If your student is learning remotely, he or she can still attend in the afternoon to complete work. (Self-certification is required.)
  • If your student is learning remotely, transportation will not be provided to school but will be provided from school at 2:30pm.
  • Masks must be worn at all times.
  • If your student is attending In-Person Hybrid, he or she can stay after school on their regularly scheduled day. If transportation home is needed, it will be available at 2:30pm.
  • If your student is attending In-Person Hybrid, he or she can also attend the afternoon session on the opposite day of their attendance. (For example: If the student’s last name begins with a B, he or she can still come in on Thursday afternoons) In this situation, transportation will not be provided TO school but will be provided from school at 2:30pm.
  • Food will be available for students who attend.
  • Buses will pick up students at 2:30 at door 23 at the main building and at the main entrance at BFC
  • Your Academic Coach will share more information about this option and also ask for a commitment from your student so that we know who will be attending.
