Our commitment to supporting students at Neuqua Valley is an important priority. One way we do this is to offer a teacher mentor students. The mentor program is called GPS (Growth. Potential. Success.) and is designed to connect students to a teacher mentor who can help them develop good habits and achieve success. Students are chosen to receive the support of a Teacher Mentor based on a recommendation from his/her counselor or a teacher from the previous year. Our teacher mentors will help students stay organized, communicate with teachers, and keep track of assignments and due dates.
Starting the week of August 26th, students will be contacted by their teacher mentor to set up an initial meeting during their lunch period. During that time, mentors will explain the program, get to know the student, and schedule a consistent time each week to meet. Students will have the opportunity to meet with their teacher mentor once a week for 20 minutes. Our teacher mentors will also communicate with parents by phone and/or by email in order to keep them updated on their progress.
Teacher Mentors will work closely with counselors in the Class House in order to best understand the changing needs of students and how to support them towards graduation and college or career plans after high school.
