Neuqua Valley is about to begin an exciting and ambitious era.
We are preparing for the Class of 2031 (Freshmen entering Neuqua Valley in August, 2027) to begin their high school experience at the MAIN building, along with all other grade levels. Several projects will begin next Spring to create the instructional spaces needed to welcome all Wildcats into one building.

T I M E L I N E
Significant work will begin in the spring of this upcoming school year. It will include projects outside the building and improvements throughout our existing spaces, including lighting, flooring, and other infrastructure upgrades that are essential to efficient and effective operations.
We have an 18-month timeline - March 2026 to August 2027 - that will include 4th quarter next year, two summers and a full school year. Below is an outline and overview of some of the larger projects that are included. The student experience is at the center of our vision.

MARCH, 2026
Groundbreaking for two additions will start in the spring of 2026. A front addition (above) will house several resources and spaces that will be moved out of their current locations to make room inside the building for more classrooms, labs, collaborative student areas, and academic services for students. A back addition (below) will provide additional instructional space, including needed space for dedicated Science courses. These additions will be completed by August of 2027.
The location of these additions (below) means there will be upcoming changes to both the front drop-off circle and the bus drop-off in the back of the school. Space needed for the construction, including equipment and materials, will change traffic patterns for both cars and buses starting in March, 2026. There will be a smaller, temporary drop-off location in front and students exiting buses will use Doors 20 and 21. Our single, secure entry will be moved to Door #3, near the Auditorium, when construction begins.
SUMMER, 2026
In the Summer of 2026, three internal projects will begin. Barb Barrows Stadium will be upgraded to include field turf and a new track surface. The addition of field turf will increase the use and availability, regardless of weather and other conditions. It will also dramatically reduce maintenance and preparations needed for practice and competitions.
The Large Forum Room (below) will be leveled and the current seating removed. This will provide a larger, more flexible space needed for many student activities and other large gatherings of students, staff, and the community.
In the Commons (below) a multi-stage project will begin that will increase capacity needed for August of 2027. We will also be diversifying the type of seating, increasing the options and choices students will have during their lunch hour.
There will also be a new Cardio Lab added off the hallway that leads to Athletics.
SCHOOL YEAR, 2026-2027
Our goal during the school year will be to provide a safe and a disruption-free environment. Our architects and general contractor have deep experience in working in and around schools when students are present. Most of the changes will be the two additions outside the building. There will be some additional projects taking place inside, including an upgraded and expanded location for Special Education. Since we have had ample time to plan, we do not expect significant changes to our daily routines.
Other internal updates include a consolidation of the Academic Resources Centers (ARC) into one space. The new location (see below) will be closer to the Commons, in what is now the Student Resource Center.

SUMMER, 2027
This will be a very busy time on campus. Work will be finishing the interior of both large additions (see below) along with interior work that will add classroom space in the existing academic wings (B &D).
Additional classroom space includes the addition of collaborative work spaces for students integrated into our academic wings. Staff and students will have greater opportunities to work together and in small groups. There will be a variety of seating options, including round tables, individual work counters, and shared breakout rooms.
AUGUST, 2027
Neuqua Valley opens the 2027-2028 school year with Grades 9-12 in one building for the first time since 2003.
As we begin this journey, our promise to you is keeping our students and families our number one priority. There are many changes ahead! We look forward to sharing our progress with you.
